Give Without Disappearing

October 5, 2026

A woman shares from a full table while keeping one hand over her own journal beneath the title Give Without Disappearing.

Being a giver can be one of the most beautiful parts of who you are.

It can also be one of the most draining.

I know both truths.

I know the fulfillment of pouring into people.

I know what it feels like to encourage, support, explain, build, help, make room, open a door, answer the call, and give from the place in me that genuinely wants people well.

That part of me is real.

I do not want to become hard.

I do not want to become suspicious of every need.

I do not want to close my hand so tightly around my energy that love cannot move through it.

But I have also learned that giving without wisdom can quietly become disappearing.

You can give until your own voice gets faint.

You can give until people begin to expect access they have not stewarded.

You can give until support becomes enabling.

You can give until your heart is still open, but your body is tired of carrying what was never yours to own.

That is why keeping the right people around me matters.

Not perfect people.

Right people.

People who can receive without taking.

People who can be helped without becoming dependent on your exhaustion.

People who know how to celebrate your yes and respect your no.

People who do not only love what you give, but also care about what it costs you.

Part of the reason I write these blogs is because I am learning out loud.

I am naming the lessons so they do not stay trapped inside my body.

I am turning experiences into language that might help another woman before she gives herself empty trying to prove she is good, loyal, generous, strong, or available.

Because generosity is not the same thing as overextension.

Love is not the same thing as enabling.

Help is not the same thing as rescue.

And being needed is not the same thing as being valued.

That last one matters.

Sometimes a giver has to ask a hard question.

Do they value me, or do they value what I keep making possible?

The answer does not always mean walking away.

Sometimes it means having the conversation.

Sometimes it means changing the boundary.

Sometimes it means letting someone else carry the consequence of a choice you cannot keep absorbing.

Sometimes it means admitting that your gift needs governance.

I am learning that too.

My giving needs wisdom.

My energy needs stewardship.

My circle needs discernment.

My heart can stay soft without staying unprotected.

That is not selfish.

That is mature.

Because a gift used wisely can bless people for a long time.

A gift used recklessly can leave you empty and call it love.

I want to give from overflow.

I want to give with clarity.

I want to give without enabling.

I want to give without disappearing.

That's part of my Herformation.

And maybe...

yours too.
