This Is Me, Enhanced

August 24, 2026

A Black woman writing at a desk with her manuscript, laptop, and a planner that protects time for both meaningful work and intentional rest.

I had been carrying my first book for years.

Then, all at once, it was time to finish it.

Not just write when inspiration found me.

Finish it.

Draft after draft.

Decision after decision.

Page after page that had to sound like me, feel like me, and tell the truth the way I meant it.

At the same time, I was sharing more of my own discovery journey through these entries.

I was rebranding my website.

Rebuilding the Woman Enlightened brand.

Still leading in my corporate career.

Still being a mother.

Still being a wife.

Still wanting to be present for the life happening around the work.

It was a lot.

Not because I was incapable of doing it.

Because every meaningful thing required thought, attention, and a piece of me that I refused to give carelessly.

I needed time to write intentionally.

I needed to move through multiple drafts without losing the thought that had finally opened.

I needed to return to the page after a meeting, a family responsibility, or a full day and still know where I was going.

So I used AI.

Then, as AI became more capable, I became more intentional about how I used it.

I learned how to give better direction.

How to use it to organize what I was already thinking.

How to hold my place while life needed me somewhere else.

How to move from an idea to a draft I could challenge, reshape, and make my own.

And somewhere in that process, I stopped apologizing for the help.

Using AI is not cheating.

It is resourceful.

It did not remove the work.

It changed what I could hold, return to, organize, and complete.

It did not become the author.

I never surrendered that seat.

I edit the words.

I protect the story.

I decide what stays, what changes, what sounds true, and what carries my name.

The voice is mine.

The direction is mine.

The responsibility is mine.

AI is only as good as I am.

As clear as the direction I give it.

As useful as the judgment I bring to what it returns.

As honest as my willingness to say, "No. That is not me. Try again."

That is not less work.

It is a different way of working.

I have spent enough of my career around executive work to know that capable leaders are not measured by how many tasks they insist on doing alone.

They build support around the work.

An administrative assistant can help protect time, organize priorities, and prepare communication.

A chief of staff can help turn direction into execution and keep important work moving.

Their support does not erase the leader's vision or accountability.

AI became part of that support for me.

It can help me work through an email, shape a speech, test a strategy, recover a thought, or move a project forward when I do not have an entire team standing beside me.

I still decide.

I still discern.

I still do the work only I can do.

The difference is that I do not have to prove the work is mine by making every part harder than it needs to be.

That changed more than my productivity.

It changed what I could protect.

Important moments with my family do not have to become the price of finishing what I started.

My purpose does not need me to miss the life it is meant to serve.

We even booked small vacations into next year, on purpose.

We found great rates and placed the time on the calendar before the building could consume every open space.

Not because the work will be finished by then.

Because the work may never stop offering us another reason to wait.

Relaxation is wellness.

Rest belongs in the plan, not in whatever time the plan leaves behind.

I am still ambitious.

Still driven.

Still building.

Still willing to do what the vision requires.

I am simply no longer confusing unsupported effort with integrity.

Help does not make the vision less mine.

Rest does not make the commitment less serious.

Presence does not make the ambition smaller.

This is me, enhanced.

Still the author.

Still the decision-maker.

Still the woman responsible for what carries my name.

Just better supported.

And ready for what is next.

That's part of my Herformation.
